Elisabeth Bronfen (born 23 April 1958 in Munich) is a cultural and literary scholar and author; she is professor of English and holds a chair in the University of Zurich’s English Department. She has also been Global Distinguished Professor at New York University since 2007. Bronfen has published numerous articles in the fields of gender studies, psychoanalysis, literary, film and cultural sciences, as well as a number of highly regarded books. She currently lives in Zurich.
