While only a few Spaniards are among the most influential thought leaders in the Spanish-speaking area, South Americans, by contrast, occupy 15 of the top 20 places in this language area. The Hispanic spirit seems to be situated quite far to the left: Fidel Castro ranks number one, and most of the thought leaders following him tend to fall on the left side of the political spectrum.
